It's good news, bad news, great news. The first thing you notice about this bracelet by Stephen Bartek is that the design is fantastic. It's a clamper that clamps right onto your love of Art Deco / Modernist jewelry. The bad news is that when you photograph this and it's very magnified, you see the flaws more than you would in person. But the great news is that this bracelet is still awesome.
As you can see, the gold-plate on silver shows some wear along the edges. There are the expected little dings/scratches along the surface. A smudge-like mark next to the hinge is probably someone's attempt to test this for precious metal.
This clamper measures about 6 1/2 inches around the inside though it opens up wider and you can probably fit it to a 7 inch wrist. It's 2 3/8 inches wide at the top, tapering to 5/8 inch wide at the hinge.
The inside of the bracelet is hand-etched with this romantic message...TO E. - SUNDAY MONDAY AND ALWAYS - A. The bracelet is hallmarked BARTEK.
Stephan Bartek was a metalworker and jewelry designer active in the 1930s to 1950s. He lived in Wallingford, CT. his entire life. His work was creative and skillful. There's not a lot of it to be found. This bracelet is a unique example. It could have been made in the 1930s or the 1950s because the design is so 'moderne'.
The bypass clamper has a strong spring hinge. Overall in very good condition. We hope that ~E~ appreciated ~A~'s good taste.
