She personified the Victorian era's feminine ideal of physical attractiveness as created by the illustrations of artist Charles Dana Gibson. Portrait artist Thelma Skelton carried on the 'Gibson Girl' model on this antique porcelain pendant she painted.
The painting is a profile view of the perfectly chiseled features of this lovely lady. Her furry hat has plumes of pink. Her collar is detailed to look like lace. Her portrait is a standout against the stark white porcelain background. The frame is a thin band of gold-filled metal.
The pendant measures 1 7/8 by 2 1/2 inches. It hangs from an 18-inch gold-filled chain. The secure spring ring clasp is marked 1/20 12K G.F. The front of the porcelain is signed THELMA SKELTON. We like that she signed it on the front rather than the back. She knew she was good.
Excellent antique condition. Pendant is circa 1910. Chain was added later on.
