This is the United Nations of necklaces. It's a multi-cultural work of art...a fusion of charms and beads that came from several peoples...Mexican, Native American, Chinese and others.
The center pendant is a Taxco plaque of sterling silver with inlaid abalone shell. The image is the classic Sleeping Mexican next to the cactus tree. It measures 2 1/4 inches across. The back is marked SILVER 925 TAXCO - IMP.
There are other sterling Mexican charms including a butterfly and a blanket. There's a Navajo figure, colorful Chinese enamel beads and dangles, filigree silver (note the great palm tree), jade and turquoise beads. All the metal components are silver. All the beads are genuine stone with some glass and crystal spacers. The clasp has Native American sterling cones with a secure jump ring clasp marked STERLING.
The necklace measures 25 inches around. It's 3 inches long at center. It weighs 130 grams. It's a blend of international treasures...all in one fantastic necklace. Circa 1970s.
