This is one for the books. It's a stunning necklace made of genuine angel skin coral, freshwater pearls and gold-filled accents.
The coral centerpiece is hand-carved with an intricate vignette of butterflies, flowers and foliate. It measures 1 3/4 inches across by 1 1/2 inches high. It's 1/2 inch thick.
The carved center is supported by a cluster of eight strands of white freshwater pearls, followed by four braided strands of natural angel skin coral beads (5mm). In between are a few gold-filled bead spacers.
The necklace measures 18 inches around. It's about 1 inch wide at the bead clusters...1 1/2 inches at the center. The slide-in box clasp tests for gold-filled. It has a side latch for extra security.
The necklace weighs 89 grams.
The coral shows natural nuances inherent in the stone. The back of the centerpiece has a shallow fissure line. It's about 1/8 inch at the deepest of the 1/2 inch width...far from being a threat to the integrity of the piece which is very solid. The carving is highly detailed and layered. The color is the prettiest pink...obviously chosen by the carver for its sweet color.
Overall, this is a magnificent necklace. You'll know it the moment you put it around your neck.
