He sees good fortune in your future. He sees a silver ring unlike any other. It has a big ball that he gazes into. He has a turban on his head even though he's from Mexico where they don't wear turbans. He sees that you are intrigued with him and who can blame you?...he's so unusual.
This old Mexican fortune teller is circa 1940. He has a small turquoise stone in the center of the turban. The figure on the ring was most likely inspired by the THIEF OF BAGDAD, a 1940 British Technicolor Arabian fantasy film produced by Alexander Korda. The film inspired all kinds of jewelry with an Arabian theme. This figure with the ball was most often attached to a sword brooch. This is the only ring version we've seen.
The ring is a small size...4.5. It can easily be made larger by a jeweler. The fortune teller measures 1 inch across the knees by 1 1/4 inches high. The ring weighs 10.8 grams. The back is marked SILVER MEXICO...an early mark. There are a few indents to the silver ball...fortune telling is a rough business.
Overall in great vintage condition. We see a unique Mexican ring in your future.
