Into each life, a little exotica must fall. Or things would be very dreary.
This piece of exotica falls just right...around your neck. It's a wonderful old handmade necklace of high-grade silver (tests for sterling). It comes from the northern India state of Rajasthan where palaces of Royal women and princes once lived and where much silver jewelry was made.
The necklace is a thick woven chain bedecked with clusters of dangling silver beads. There's a large ornate cluster in the center that measures about 2 inches across by 2 1/4 inch long. These traditional dangles were meant to jingle against each other and create a sound to keep evil at bay.
The necklace measures 15 1/4 inches around. It weighs 35 grams. There's a secure hook and eye clasp. A chain extender can be added for a bit more length. The patina is unpolished...very nice au natural. Circa 1950s.
