We've seen a lot of Bakelite clips come and go but this one stands out and makes you take a long, admiring look.
The flower is carved on a thick piece of marbled green Bakelite with tweaks of yellow. The carving is deep and detailed. The lower half of the Bakelite is smooth and polished...showing off the melding colors.
The Bakelite flower is mounted on a metal clip backing that's been finished in a coppery coating. Some of it has chipped/faded over the years but the copper effect is still attractive. You see just the outer edge of it from the front...surrounding the Bakelite.
The clip measures 1 3/8 inches across by 2 1/8 inches high. The hinge works well. Since the clip weighs a hardy 24.5 grams, It needs a hardy fabric to clip to. Excellent vintage condition. 1930s Art Deco era.
