This small heavy sterling silver bowl came from Sanborns of Mexico City. Opened in 1903, Sanborns sold high-quality sterling pieces with the Eagle 22 hallmark and the three owls logo starting in 1931.

This bowl measures 4 3/4 inches across by 2 inches high. It weighs 155 grams.

It's the perfect size for many things...nuts, candy, mints, olives, etc. The rim is made with decorative indentations, like thumbprints but rectangular in shape.

The bottom is hallmarked with the Eagle 22 mark and....SANBORNS - MEXICO - STERLING - SA - 925 M.M. - HECHO EN MEXICO. Some dark spots because this hasn't been fully polished...we leave it to buyer. Overall in excellent vintage condition with no dents, dings or notable scratches. Circa 1950.

Sanborns is listed on page 171 of The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks by Bille Hougart.
