They're known as 'Navajo Pearls'. These Native American bench beads are actually made of sterling silver.
Bench beads are silver beads that are crafted with handmade methods, or they can be shaped by a machine and then finished by hand. The shaping of handmade silver beads tends to be very labor-intensive, and since the mid 20th century, the beads have been typically created using a hydraulic press for the punching and doming of silver bead halves to save time. The halves are then soldered together by hand.
This sterling silver bench bead necklace measures 20 inches long. The beads are about 8mm wide. They're strung on sterling silver link chain. The necklace weighs 69 grams. There's a toggle clasp closure...also sterling silver. There are no markings on the necklace but it's been acid tested in several places to confirm sterling silver.
Original unpolished patina. Excellent vintage condition. The beads are intact with no notable dings.
