This early Lucite handbag is so unique. It's shaped like an egg. It has a cut-through sun ray design on both sides of the steely marbled gray Lucite and the edges are studded with little rivets.
It measures 3 3/4 inches across at the widest by 5 1/4 inches high (not including the handle). It's about 1 1/4 inches thick. The handle adds 7 1/2 inches to the length of the purse.
The unusual handle is made of tubular gray Lucite beads...a kind of rolling slat effect. The front of the bag is decorated with a carved Lucite dangle.
Push the button down to open and you're stunned by the shock of teal blue silk that greets you. It's sewn into the bag at each side with fancy bronze-tone trim. Each side has a ruffled pocket that will hold a lipstick and some money. One side has an attached celluloid mirror. It's cream-colored with teal trim. The mirror measures 2 3/8 inches across and it's in perfect condition.
This great little Art Deco era handbag is unlike most we see and it's in excellent vintage condition. Secure clasp closes with a snap. Circa mid 1930s.
