Elsa Schiaparelli, or “Schiap,” as she was known (pronounced Skap), was well ahead of her time. Her designs were shocking, playful, surreal (thanks to her friendship with Salvador Dali), and always innovative. Everything became 'art' as seen through her fearless bold view.
This rare frog pin is a Schiaparelli jelly belly with bulging faux pearl eyes, a see-through pale blue glass stone body that's faceted around the sides, and lavender see-through beveled glass legs. The metal is goldtone with just the teeniest bit of wear.
The pin measures 1 1/2 inches across and the same in width. The back has a secure rollover clasp and is signed in the scripted signature of SCHIAPARELLI.
This pin is in excellent vintage condition. Circa 1940.
This collectible jelly belly frog is much more than that...it's a 'Skap'.
