There's nothing like old Czech glass beads. They're so unique and distinct that once you've seen a bunch, you can spot them across a room. And the things the Czech artisans did with those beads...breathtaking.
This old Czech flapper necklace is from the 1920s. The beads are facet-cut and striated with green bands. They vary in shape along the 28 inch necklace with hand-knotting between each bead. At the bottom, there's a four strand tassel that's 5 1/2 inches long. You just know this one was made to swing and sway and dance that new crazy dance...'The Charleston'.
The original thread is old but it still looks thick and strong. It's most apparent where the strand meets the tassel. It has that great 'raw' handmade touch.
The beads weigh 44 grams. The necklace is in excellent vintage (nearly antique) condition.
