The first thing you notice about this large sterling silver cross is the dome of natural turquoise in the center. This is an old piece, handmade of solid sterling silver.
The cross measures 2 inches across by 2 3/4 inches high. There are no markings but by design and workmanship, this is probably Mexican or Native American. The fine stone sits in a bezel of silver rope. The stone measures 12mm by 13mm.
The cross is hand-hammered...smoother on the front...more texture showing on the back. It has a strong, rugged look that can be worn by a man or a woman. The cross hangs from a vintage added sterling silver chain marked 925 MEX with maker's marks. Cross and chain weigh 29 grams.
Unpolished patina. Excellent vintage condition. Circa 1950s.
