Walter Hoving ruled Tiffany & Co. with a firm but kind hand for 25 years, promoting very high standards of taste. He refused to sell diamond rings for men, sell silver plate or provide charge accounts to customers who had been rude to his employees. In 1977, he offered for sale a series of "Try God" pins. Hoving was a deeply religious man, and the profits from the sale went to homes for troubled girls.
This Tiffany & Co. TRY GOD pin is made of sterling silver. The pin measures 9/16 by 1/2 inch (15mm by 12mm). The words are cut through the sterling. The back clutch is silver-tone metal.
Pin is in excellent vintage condition. Circa 1970s. (With Hoving at the Tiffany helm, the company went from $7 million in sales in 1955 to $100 million in 1980.)
