Renoir Matisse made some of the best copper jewelry ever. This 1950s Matisse cuff bracelet is an homage to the 1920s Arts and Crafts movement but it's very Modernist in its design. We call it...sleek copper cuff with a side of enamel.
The cuff tapers from one side to the other...7/8 inch to 1 5/8 inches. The wide side becomes the wild side with an enameled plaque insert held by five links. The plaque moves a bit in its slot, adding a kinetic element. The enamel colors are teal blue/green with black and silver / blue flecks.
The bracelet measures from about 6 1/4 inches around to 7 inches. It has a rich copper patina. The outside edge is signed MATISSE. In strong light you can see some scratches/wear at the bracelet ends. The enamel is perfect. Overall, this cuff is in very good+ vintage condition.
