Back in 1952 Indiana, you couldn't buy this nice badge that allowed you into the Indiana Democratic State Convention. You had to earn it by being selected as a DELEGATE. So there weren't very many of these made as only the delegates got them. (According to the Political Graveyard website, there were approximately 60 delegates and alternates that year.)

This ornate brass medallion, complete with the Dems' goat symbol, hangs from a patriotic red, white and blue satin ribbon. Both hang from the DELEGATE bar at the top. The badge measures 1 7/8 inches across by 3 inches high. The back has its original secure ~C~ clasp and the maker's hallmark which includes the words 'UNION MADE'.

The convention was held to choose the next presidential candidate from the Democratic Party. Adlai Stevenson was chosen to run against Dwight D. Eisenhower. Not a good year for the Dems but they did make a nice badge that year.

Minor age related soil to ribbon but overall, this is in very good+ vintage condition.
