This pair of original 1920s lithographs are by Marcel Le Boulte who knew how to capture the Art Deco era pin-up girl. These two are captioned ... THE BUTTERFLY and MY SONGBIRD. One is communing with her songbird...the other is jumping rope. Both ladies are having a slip of the dress top, thereby exposing a little skin.
The images are printed in an oval shape that's 6 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches but the entire print measures 8 by 10 inches. Each is signed with the title and the artist's signature. While it looks like it's penciled, we think it's actually printed on.
These are in excellent, unused condition. We know exactly where these came from for those who like a bit of provenance. When we opened our antique shop on Broadway in Greenwich Village (Dec. 1969), there was a print shop across the street. The owner had been there for decades and was retiring and offered us his old stock. What a lucky start for us to find a treasure trove of antique and vintage prints, lithographs, and art work. These lovely ladies came from that old print shop on Broadway.
