This vintage miniature doll house spinning wheel is an old Continental silver miniature made by Dutch silversmith Hendrik Hooijkass (sometimes spelled Hooykaas).
The spinning wheel is so detailed and substantial, it looks like a miniature of its real life version. Crank the handle and the wheel spins. The top bar that would hold the wool also turns.
The spinning wheel measures about 2 inches across and it stands 3 1/8 inches high. It weighs 33.8 grams.
The bottom is marked HH for Hendrik Hooykaas and 835 for 83.5% silver (out of 1000). Hooykaas is known for his fine life-like miniatures. (His silver miniatures were sold at Christie's in 1999 for impressive prices.) This piece was made in the early to mid 20th century. Condition is excellent.
