Is there a roofer in the house? If so, you might recognize this old tool of the trade. It's an EVER-TITE can opener and we're not talking baked beans. This one is industrial...intended to open those cans of roofing tar and other gooey things that hold a house together.
This EVER-TITE opener is made of solid bronze. Apparently, it's made to get under the lip of those house-building cans in just the right way. And the good news is that you don't need to be a roofer to get a lot of use from this gizmo because it also opens beer bottles.
The opener measures 3 1/4 inches long by 3/4 inch wide. It hangs from a stainless steel ring that you can attach to a tool belt or your refrigerator. This has a great patina with the EVER-TITE logo clear on the top. Circa 1940s. This is a rare opener...not another one on the entire Internet. Roofers and beer drinkers never sell them.
