Shaped like a horseshoe, this Victorian pin is a row of graduating garnets. These are facet cut and are a most beautiful rich ruby red color, especially when it catches the light.
The pin measures 1 1/2 inches across by 1 1/4 inches high. The center stone is 8mm. The back is gold-filled and the garnets are affixed to prongs that hold them securely. The pin back is the old original ~C~ clasp. It curls around and holds the pin well.
The only odd thing we notice is that one end of the pin curls up slightly. Doesn't seem to effect anything so we're not going to try to bend it back...it may just have been made this way. Through a magnifier, you can see some tiny age appropriate nicks to stone edges. Overall in excellent antique condition.
