One shakes his maracas. Another twirls a hat on his nose. And the third one plays with a rope. These three vintage clown wind-up mechanical toys are all very busy entertaining you.
These were made in West Germany in the 1950s. One still has its original tag marked M37 WEST GERMANY ORIGINAL.
The tallest clown measures about 8 1/2 inches high. The other two are about 6 1/2 inches high.
These are made of molded celluloid-like plastic that's hand-painted. Some parts (under clothing) are made of metal. The colorful clothing is great...even bowties.
The clown with the rope has had a mishap to one hand and his nose. There also appears to be a little maker's patch missing from his jacket. The clown with the hat on his nose has a broken cane but the rest of him is intact. The big guy with the maracas and checkered pants is in really great condition and he does know how to shake those things.
These all work...the keys are attached and wind easily (careful not to overwind them). These are from the 1950s. A wonderful group of toy clown wind-ups in overall very good working condition.
