This old Victorian era hat or stick pin has a large 'head', covered in prong set rhinestones. It measures 1 1/2 inches across. The pin itself is more stickpin size at a total of 3 1/8 inches long for the entire piece.
The clear and amethyst colored crystal rhinestones are prong set in an ornate aged brass setting. Through a magnifier, you can see that this was probably once silvered but little of the silver color remains.
The short 2 1/8 inch pin is original to the top and this pin is an early one...circa 1890s to 1910. The silver-tone pin is sturdy. The stones are intact and sparkly.
This is a great old hat pin that works equally well when worn as a brooch. Excellent vintage condition. (The little gold-tone clutch was added on but is not original to the piece.)
