Oversized whimsical jewelry was alive and well in the 1930s, created by such greats as Frank Hess and Miriam Haskell. It was a great creative era for carved wood (and Bakelite)...these pieces lifted spirits and were just plain ol' fun to wear.
This 1930s pin was carved (probably by hand), tinted with color, and overlaid to create two flowers on a green stem.
The pin is big one, measuring 3 1/4 inches across by 4 3/4 inches high. It's about 1/2 inch thick. The original pinback has a secure rollover clasp.
The pin is in excellent vintage condition. Circa 1935 to 1940.
