Everything about this gorgeous estate necklace is something to admire. It has a bold elegant look and it's made of quality baroque freshwater pearls, mother-of-pearl, faceted quartz crystal beads, and sterling silver.
The center piece is a perfectly polished iridescent mother-of-pearl shell plaque. It measures 2 3/4 inches across. The bail and accompanying ethnic beads are sterling silver with detailed overlay work. Large baroque freshwater pearls measure 10mm to 11mm. They're spaced with beaded sterling silver disks, nuggets of mother-of-pearl, and four large 12mm multi-faceted quartz crystal beads.
The double strand necklace measures 17.5 inches around the shortest strand. It's 3 1/2 wide inches at center. The two strands together measures about 1 inch wide. The necklace weighs 165 grams...very substantial and impressive.
The clasp is the perfect finishing touch. It's a secure slide-in box that closes with a click. Made of sterling silver, the clasp has a bezel-set pearl in the center, surrounded by twisting rope and raised beads. The back of the clasp is marked 925.
Condition of necklace is excellent. Circa 1980s. (Beautiful any time, any place but this one is especially Wedding Day worthy.)
