We've seen many a maraca but never ones so cute. These flirty girl vintage maracas / rattles are old souvenirs of CEREZAL EDO. SUCRE VENEZUELA.
They're hand-painted with Betty Boop like eyes and lips and have hair made of small stones/shells. A row of black beads decorate their heads. These measures 9 1/2 inches high by 4 inches across.
Though whimsical in looks, these gals shake up a mighty rhythmical storm. The dried gourd (or coconut) shells are filled with seeds or dried beans and mounted on solid wood handles. Hold them. Shake them. Get the beat. Create the beat. Let your hips loose from reality. These Latin American percussion shakers will transport you to a place that singer Charo used to call 'cuchi-cuchi'.
Excellent vintage condition. Circa 1940s/50s. Price includes FREE domestic shipping.
