At Jewish celebrations, the common toast is “L’chaim!,” which means, “to life!.” It's said for all the good things now and in anticipation of more good things to come.
This vintage English sterling silver CHAI (or HAI) ring features the two letters that spell the Jewish word 'Life' or 'Living'. There's textured etching all around and behind the letters which are raised with smooth surfaces.
The ring is hallmarked with the British lion passant for 925 sterling silver. There's the uncrowned leopard head which means this was made in London. There's also a maker's mark and date mark...post mid-century.
The ring is size 8 1/4 (can be sized up or down by a jeweler). The top of the ring measures 5/8 by 5/8 inches. It weighs 13.2 grams.
The patina has been left unpolished. Ring is in excellent vintage condition. This ring is a toast to life that's with you all the time.
