This is an extraordinary necklace - bracelet jewelry set, the likes of which we've never seen before and will probably never see again.
It's from the 1970s, designer signed, and though we're SO close to making out the signature, we just can't seem to pinpoint it. The first part looks like Ole, de, or Le. The second word looks like Hasada or Hasalo or Hio??? But beyond the signature, it's the design that's so unique.
Both pieces are made of heavy gold-tone metal. Both the hinged bracelet and the triangular pendant are covered in tiny seed beads of different colors. The tiny beads are laid out in geometric patterns with a very Art Deco / Modernist flair.
The pendant necklace measures 16 inches around. The chain is a 3/16 inch wide herringbone weave design. The pendant measures 1 7/8 inches across by 1 3/4 inches high.
The matching bracelet has a crossover design with the top winging over the bottom half. The seed beads cover both sides. The work on this and the necklace is incredible as each bead had to be hand set. The bracelet measures 1 3/4 inches wide at the top. The back is 1 1/4 inches wide. It hugs an average 6 to 7 inch wrist comfortably.
Each piece is signed. This may be a vintage obscure maker / studio which is one reason we can't find it. The provenance on this is...we bought this set years ago as part of a jewelry collection from a woman. The jewelry had belonged to her aunt who traveled extensively and bought jewelry wherever she went. Most of the other pieces are long gone but we kept this set because it really stood out and we were trying to identify the maker. Everything in her collection was outstanding and this set was the star of it all.
Through a magnifier, we can see a few beads missing. You'll have to hunt to find any gaps as they're very minimal . The set is in excellent vintage condition. The gold is gleaming and bright. This is an incredible Modernist set by someone very talented.
