This vintage Scandinavian pin is made of sterling silver and yellow guilloche enamel. The mid-century figural pin features three lovely bell flowers hanging from a bough.
While this finely-crafted pin is delightful and pleasant to look at, trying to find the maker's mark was an exercise in eye and neck gymnastics. We finally found it INSIDE one of the flowers...a bit hard to see through the aged patina.
The pin was made by Ivar T. Holth of Oslo Norway. He was first registered in Oslo in 1953 and this silversmith was an important producer of guilloche enamel jewelry with an extensive export business.
The pin measures 2 inches across by 1 inch high. The pin weighs 6.5 grams. The back has a secure rollover clasp.
The pin is marked on the INSIDE of the end flower. We can make out 925S and the Holth ~H~ hallmark in a circle. Under that is STERLING. It's hard to read the marks due to their location and it would be nearly impossible to photograph them...but they are in there and this is a genuine Holth piece. Pin is in excellent vintage condition. Circa 1950s.
