In a word...exquisite. But there are many more words to describe this gorgeous Art Deco necklace. Here are but a few...sterling silver, hand-set marcasite, genuine carnelian.
This original 1930s necklace measures 16 inches around. The center has a beveled square of russet carnelian surrounded by sterling set with marcasite accents. Another carnelian drop hangs from the necklace. The entire carnelian center measures 2 1/4 inches long.
The sterling silver chain is nothing ordinary. It's dotted with marcasite along each decorative link. There's a pretty matching clasp with a secure fishhook closure. Both the clasp and the back of the bottom pendant are marked STERLING. The necklace weighs 17.5 grams. It has not been polished but with such a beautiful patina, it probably shouldn't be. All the marcasite stones are intact. This gorgeous necklace is in excellent vintage condition. A rare find from the Art Deco era.
