1940s WW II WELCOME BACK Embossed Tin Sign Ruptured Duck Thanks Vets
This original WW II era sign says...WELCOME BACK...WEARER OF THIS BADGE OF HONOR - YOU HAVE SERVED YOUR COUNTRY WELL - WE THANK YOU.
The gold on navy blue embossed tin sign shows the Honorable Discharge pin (aka the 'ruptured duck' pin) given to those who served in the military.
The sign measures 16 1/2 inches across by 6 1/4 inches high. The back has both a string for hanging on the wall and a cardboard easel back for standing on a counter. These signs were displayed in public places (stores, theaters, etc.) where the returning soldiers would see them.
This sign was made in the 1940s by Ace Banner & Flag Co. of New York. When they went out of business circa 1970, we bought out their leftover surplus so this sign has never been used. Negligible storage nicks to litho but overall in excellent condition. The sign's message is still greatly valued today.
