This vintage Navajo ring scores high points for many reasons...it was made by Tobe Turpen, a highly-skilled silver artist and long-time New Mexico trading post owner.
This large sterling silver ring features a fine Bisbee turquoise stone, a favorite of Turpen's. The stone is set in a sawtooth bezel and it measures 12mm by 20mm. The top of the ring measures about 3/4 inch across by 1 inch high. The ring weighs 23.8 grams. The inside is hallmarked STERLING - TT.
This ring has something we've never seen before...an attached ring guard that allows the ring size to change from 9 to 11. The guard is part of the ring and it's cleverly incorporated into the band. This is a great plus as fingers change size depending on the weather and how much pizza you ate the night before.
The ring hasn't been fully polished showing patina as found. There are some minimal signs of wear/use. The stone / ring are in overall excellent vintage condition. Circa 1960s/70s.
