Some things can not go ignored. Like the chance to own an original Parrot art work painted on a leather handbag / shoulder bag. Not just any parrot...this is "JACKIE AT PSYCHOLOGIST'S FORM BOARD". Jackie lived at Parrot Jungle in Miami Florida circa 1950s/60s.
Jackie was a performing Macaw who would prove his intelligence with a psychologist’s form board. He could get the correct shape into the corresponding hole every time. Jackie was a great attraction at Parrot Jungle. We've seen him on an old vintage postcard.
This souvenir handbag is hand-painted in tropical turquoise and greens, showing Jackie at her board. The leather bag is hand-stitched. It measures about 11 by 7 inches. The strap is 20 inches to center from top of bag. It can be tucked inside so the bag can be carried as a clutch. The bag flap has a secure snap closure. The inside is just suede with no compartments. Signs of use inside but no bad markings or odors.
The neutral tan of the bag has some minor spotting, mostly on the back. You could see that someone tried to take good care of it as it was stuffed with paper inside to help keep its shape. Overall in very good condition. It's so unique and surely one-of-a-kind. Great for a bird / parrot lover...or anyone interested in the psychology of birds.
