Don't let this incredible whopper get away. He's an old Chinese fish pendant with a big mouth that opens to reveal a little box.
Made of very fine silver filigree, the work is intricate and impressive...especially given the fact that the tail is articulated and wriggles like the real thing. There's a gold vermeil overlay on the silver to give this fish an added glow. And those 'beady' eyes are actually genuine turquoise beads.
The fish pendant box measures 3 1/2 inches long by about 1 inch wide. It weighs 21.5 grams.
The inside of the mouth box lid is marked SILVER. It acid-tests for sterling.
This fish pendant box is in excellent vintage condition...the box lid stays securely closed. Circa 1940s. (We're adding a fine Krementz gilded chain at no extra charge...they look perfect together.)
