Somebody had to do it. Create a Modernist necklace and earrings set so playful and offbeat that it's probably the only one in the Universe.
The necklace is very long (our undersized manikin head couldn't handle it)...40 inches so it's easily doubled up. It's made of both gold and silver-tone metals for an interesting contrast. The links are round and square. Some squiggle this way. Some curl that way. Some links serpentine. Some oval links are set with genuine gemstones. It's a cacophony of metalwork and it works.
The centerpiece is a bar with three hanging shapes. The round shape has a stone of genuine olive green jasper. The triangle shape looks like amber but may just be Lucite or resin. The center squiggle ends in a faux glass ruby. The centerpiece measures 3 by 2 5/8 inches.
And let's not forget those matching dangle earrings...a round post that matches some of the chain links with a dangle of beads. The earrings (for pierced ears) measure 3/4 by 1 3/4 inches. The set weighs 85 grams.
This set has no markings that we see. But be assured that this innovative jewelry set will leave a mark on your appreciation of those quirky creative Modernists. Circa 1960s.
