Strong and stylized, this mid-century Mexican face pin / pendant is hand carved of black onyx. The head is set in a sterling silver headdress and wears silver earrings.
The head measures 1 3/8 by 2 1/4 inches. It's 3/4 inch deep. The back is hallmarked TAXCO MEXICO 925. The artist's initials are in the center... looks like PJB and there's an Eagle 3 mark.
The head hangs on a sterling silver snake chain that measures 18 inches. There's a secure lobster claw clasp marked 925.
The rollover part of the pin is gone but the remaining double ~C~ clasp still holds securely so this can be worn either way...pin or pendant.
The necklace weighs 31 grams. The silver has a beautiful darkened patina that could be polished but we leave it to buyer to decide. This old Taxco piece is in excellent vintage condition. Circa 1950s/60s.
