It's gracefully feminine. It's gorgeously barbaric. This Modernist sterling silver necklace by Rachel Gera throws out all the rules and becomes true wearable art.
A maze of silver balls are wrapped up in silver wire, curling and colliding and hanging in a cluster that looks like the cosmic convention of planets.
The necklace measures 15 1/2 inches around. The center hangs 4 inches long. The back half of the necklace is hinged with links to the solid swirling necklace. The necklace weighs 115 grams. It got a light buff with most of the silver patina left intact.
The ball at center is hand signed on the back...GERA ISRAEL 925. Excellent vintage condition.
Among the many collectors of Gera's jewelry...Elizabeth Taylor, Peter Ustinov, Marcel Marceau and Leonard Bernstein. Her work is rare and highly collectible.
