This original Victorian era advertising pin is for CIE TRANSATLANTIQUE, aka the French Line. The company was established in 1861 with the initial voyage of the SS Washington in June 1864. The company had a fleet of freighters in addition to its famous fleet of ocean liners.
This silver-tone pin features the company's logo...the rooster, along with an anchor and life preserver.
The pin measures 1 1/8 by 1 1/4 inches. The front of the pin is very detailed. The back has the old Victorian ~C~ clasp. Unpolished, excellent condition. A rare early ocean liner souvenir pin, circa 1900.
