We think of Monet as an old staple...the tried and true jewelry line that's been around since 1937. (They actually started in 1919 as a monogram company.)
This beautiful gold-tone Monet necklace exhibits why collectors still fancy Monet. The quality has always been high. With their triple-plating, it's not unusual for Monet pieces to last for decades without showing signs of wear on the finish.
These colorful teardrop-shaped rhinestones are first-class crystal and they're faceted like real gemstones to catch every beam of light in the Universe. Several faux pearls add a classic touch.
The necklace measures about 18 inches around. The center cobalt blue stone measures 3/4 inch high. The clasp is a secure hook. The open link chain is textured with a 'twist'. The back is marked MONET. Condition is excellent. Circa 1980s.
(Some interesting facts about Monet... In 1981, Monet was licensed to sell the costume jewelry of French designer Yves Saint Laurent in the U.S. YSL designs had high standards and Monet was the costume jewelry company that could meet the manufacturing requirements. After success with that line, Monet began manufacturing Christian Lacroix costume jewelry in 1995. Like YSL, Christian Lacroix used quality materials and Monet sold the line exclusively in upscale department stores. With Monet in such good French designer company, the 'tried and true' has become magnifique!)
