This is such a darling Victorian piece. It's a miniature frame occupied by a lady's transferware portrait on porcelain.
The frame is 10K yellow gold on coin silver (acid-tested). The edges are scalloped with eight jeweled tips. The surface is etched all over with ornate scrollwork.
The back of the frame is made of thick copper and hinges to the front to stand like an easel.
The frame measures 1 7/8 by 1 7/8 inches. There's a tiny bit of wear to the portrait's surface but not enough to diminish her beauty.
Two thoughts on this wonderful frame...1 - The porcelain lady can be replaced with a portrait of your own choosing and, 2 - This could be converted to a pendant by adding a bail to the back easel.
Overall, this is in excellent vintage condition. This piece came from the estate of an antique dealer who had definitely kept the best pieces for himself.
