Now you see it. Now you don't. This Victorian button hook retracts into its brass and gold-plated casing with a twist of the wrist.
This miniature hook was made to hang from a chatelaine...one of those handy tool accessories a fashionable Victorian woman would wear...always at the ready to button up.
The button hook measures 2 1/4 inches long in the closed position. Twist it up to fully extend the hook and it measures 3 3/8 inches long. There's textured gold-plate on the upper part of the case and more gilt at the bottom. A loop at the end enables you to hang it from a chain or a chatelaine.
There are patent dates around the curved end...the last being Sept. 21, '75 (1875). This button hook works smoothly. There's minimal wear...it's in excellent antique condition.
