They look like little checkerboards made of inlaid black onyx and iridescent abalone shell. But when you consider the surface of a cufflink, you can truly marvel at the high level of skill it took to make these.
These elegant cufflinks are made of solid 925 sterling silver. They weigh 16 grams. The cufflink edges are scalloped. They measure 7/8 inch each way. The onyx and abalone shell are deftly inlaid in an artful square/star pattern.
The backs are hallmarked by Mexican silversmith PGG (listed in the 'Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks' by Bille Hougart). Also marked STERLING MEXICO - HECHO EN MEXICO D.F. - 0.925.
We've left the silver patina as found as some prefer it unpolished. The swivels are snug and work well. These are circa 1950s/60s, in fine vintage condition. Very unique.
