The Victorian woman would have been hapless without her trusty, handy, button hook. This antique hook was made by Webster Sterling and it probably served as a busy tool because there were buttons on everything.
You would use it to button up your high-top boots, your gloves, or the endless row of buttons on your dress. You could use this to tighten the laces on your boots or on your corset. No doubt, you could use this as a handy back scratcher.
This button hook measures 7 3/4 inches long by 7/8 inch at the widest. The sterling silver handle has a pretty repousse floral design on each side. The hook and its rod is made of turned steel. The top is marked STERLING with the ~W Co.~ hallmark. A couple of tiny dings on the handle but no monograms. The steel rod and hook have some natural age patina. The silver is left unpolished. Overall, this will still keep you buttoned up and scratch your back too. Very good antique condition.
