Antique Sterling Silver Masonic Mark Master Degree PinAntique Sterling Silver Masonic Mark Master Degree PinAntique Sterling Silver Masonic Mark Master Degree Pin

This antique solid sterling silver two-piece pin was one of Masonry's earliest, most distinguished honors. The letters around the silver medallion...H.T.W.S.S.T.K.S....represents the keystone symbol for the Mark Master Degree of Royal Arch Masonry. The letters stand for...HIRAM, TYRIAN, WIDOW'S SON, SENDETH TO KING SOLOMON.

This rare two-piece medal was once connected by a ribbon that went around the bar of each piece. The top piece has the stickpin attached while the lower bar holds the medallion. The lower bar measures 2 inches across by 2 3/8 inches high with the medallion. The two pieces weigh 35.7 grams. Though unmarked, this was acid tested for sterling. This medal is circa 1900 and in excellent condition.

About the Degree - The Order of Mark Master Masons is an appendant order of Freemasonry that exists in some Masonic jurisdictions, and confers the degrees of Mark Man and Mark Master. The administration of this degree varies greatly from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, though in all jurisdictions, the candidate for advancement is required to be a Master Mason to be eligible for this degree. In Europe, Asia and Australia the Mark Degree is conferred in separately warranted Lodges under the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons.
