Every now and then, we get a fantastic unsigned designer piece that just commands our attention. This is it and what a fabulous necklace it is.
Based on other items from this estate, this is from the Art Deco era. The necklace is wide and elaborate, made of 16 links attached by large and small rings. Each link has what looks like two stylized fish or bird shapes next to a prong-set amethyst color glass stone. The stone is surrounded by small gilded metal beads.
The necklace measures 17 1/2 inches around by 1 1/2 inches wide. The silver-tone links are covered with a gold wash while the connecting rings are not. The contrast of gold/silver tones and the deep amethyst glass comes together very dramatically.
The necklace closes with a wide hook clasp. There are no markings but this is a well-made, well-designed, beautiful necklace. It weighs a substantial 162 grams. A couple of the stones have very slight dings that we could only see through the magnifier. There's some overall wear to the gilt though it's even and doesn't detract. Overall, this is in excellent vintage condition. A real deco stunner!
