This 1946 sterling silver flower clip pin was designed by Alfred Philippe for Crown Trifari. It's made all the more interesting with ruby and clear rhinestones and a center cluster of turquoise blue glass cabochons.
The Art Deco era pin is marked with the Crown Trifari hallmark. It's also marked STERLING and PAT. PEND. This design was patented by Alfred Philippe in July of 1946...patent number145585.
The pin measures 1 5/8 inches. The back has a double prong clip on a hinge. The prongs sit securely in two ~C~ clasps. To open, you squeeze the prongs together slightly and lift up. Well-thought out design so the clip stays pinned to the garment.
The pin weighs 17.6 grams. We haven't polished the silver as we leave the original patina for buyer to decide if they prefer it polished. One or two clear stones may have been replaced but all the stones are still bright and intact. Overall in excellent vintage condition. This is a highly-collectible piece by Trifari's master designer.
