Here's a deer pin that'll be dear to your Art Deco-loving heart. This 1930s pin is from the Bakelite era when hand-carved wood pins were as popular and whimsical as their plastic counterparts.
These deer are highly stylized, layered together on top of a hand-carved and painted circle of wood. Each deer has a tuft of mane made of curled celluloid.
The pin measures 2 by 2 1/2 inches. It's 1/2 inch thick. The back has the original imbedded two-piece ~C~ clasp. The pin is in excellent condition. We once had a nice collection of vintage wood-carved (Deco era) pins and we can safely say that this is one of the most well done and elaborate that we've seen.
