This hand-painted portrait of a girl wearing a hat is a sweet one. She's mounted (on paper?) in a gilded brass frame with twisted rope border and a celluloid 'window'. Generally, this type of pin was used for photo portraits so it's unusual to find a portrait on porcelain inside.
The pin measures 1 3/4 inches across. The 'window' is 1 3/8 inches. The back has a secure rollover clasp. The celluloid shows slight age-related surface wear but doesn't obscure the image. The celluloid can also be replace with a piece of plastic or glass.
The girl looks like she's holding an oar or paddle. The pin is circa 1915-1920. It's in very good vintage condition.
