Coro Design Director Adolph Katz created some of their most beautiful and successful pieces during his decades-long career. This is one of them.
This Katz design (Patent #170,991) was patented in 1953. The gold-tone necklace has a center of two horn shapes with a 'bridge' of clear baguette rhinestones. A mesh snake chain continues up to the fishhook clasp with a teardrop rhinestone at the end.
The necklace measures 15 to 17 inches around, depending on where you clasp it along the chain. It's 3/4 inch wide at center. The back is marked COROCRAFT - PAT. PEND. The necklace comes in an original CORO box with the Pegasus symbol on the lid. That's how we bought it from the estate though the necklace may not have originally come in that box.
Excellent vintage condition. The metal is bright with no signs of wear. The stones are intact with plenty of sparkle.
