This rare cast iron toy was made in 1905 by N.N. Hill. The monkey, dressed like a human, holds a coconut and as you pull or push the toy along, he raises the coconut and hits it down on the button that rings the bell in front.
This bell ringer pull toy still retains a good amount of its original paint. The colors are primary and bright...red, yellow, blue and green. There's no repaint on this one...it's all original as made in 1905.
The Monkey Mobile as it's sometimes called, measures 6 1/4 inches across by 5 1/4 inches high. The wheels are fancy ones. The company used both these and plain wheels on their early bell toys.
This fine old toy is hard to find in good working condition as this one is. Other than some expected age discoloration on the bell and some paint loss, this toy is in excellent antique condition. It would be a valuable addition to any serious toy collection.
