We're not sure what this was used for but this antique little brush is very interesting. The top is made of sterling silver (not marked but acid tested) and it's solid. The bristles are horse hair.
Holding the brush, the fingers fall in the concave space on each side that is engraved with a cross. This possibly came from a Christian church but that's just a guess.
The brush measures 4 1/2 inches long. It's 1/2 inch wide at the top. It weighs 14 grams. It's from the late 1800s. We haven't polished the silver which has a beautifully aged patina. The bristles seem intact, securely held by the decorative pocket holding them.
This is an intriguing antique curio for the desk or display...excellent condition.
